Saturday Night Live
with The Moody Blues
at Jones Beach
by Ed

Saturday night live with the Moody Blues at Jones Beach left nobody doubting the great talents of all the members of the band; to what the opening DJ correctly concluded as "the Kings of Classic Rock and Roll". Each of the members performed using the best of their talents with Ray magnificent on the flute, Justin hitting all the high notes, John playing a wide assortment of guitars superbly, and even Graeme doing a bit of Moody rap from Mike Pinder days from their latest album.
Surprisingly, nobody missed the orchestra of the last few years as the sounds they put out rivaled most orchestras with the help of two organists and an extra drummer. The light show blended well with their old and new songs and I liked the two giant screens which showed all the musicians close up in action.
My only two complaints were the crackling of Justin's microphone (why it wasn't corrected at intermission is a disgrace to JB management), and my wish that they play more of their great songs that they never play like "Foolish Love", "The Day We Meet Again", and "Blue World." My only wishes are that they continue to come to Jones Beach and that they be put in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame immediately as they rightly deserve the honor!
